Apps or Applications

Apps are a program that may be added to your browser, Iphone, Ipad, Android tools, etc. Some items are free, others have a fee. There are basically two different kinds of app development: Android apps and Apple apps. It all depends upon the digital device.
How do you find them? Google Chrome Store (for any Android products i.e. Google Chromebook, smart tablets, smart phones, etc. Apple App Store (only for Apple products) You may also search for a particular app. |
Extensions or ADDONS

Extra features and functions that may be easily added to a browser. (types of browsers...Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Explorer and Apple Safari (on Mac computers).
How do you find them? Search Extensions and name of browser. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/extensions Can I add a Google Chrome extension to another browser? No...it is exclusively for Google. Some great extension examples for Google? ISpeech: This awesome extension (and/or app) will read the text on your webpage for you. Simply highlight the text you want to hear. How do I load it? Click Free....Click Add. You will see the speaker on the top right corner of your screen (it has a yellow speaker pointing right with a blue background.. Find a website that has text...highlight the text, Click Play button. NOTE: You can use this in your emails, your Google Docs and the web pages. NOTE2: If you log in to Google Chrome instead of your gmail, you will have the option of saving this extension to your personal gmail account. That way this file will follow you to any computer you go to as long as you logged into your account. |
Troubleshooting tips for ISpeech?
No sound? a. DOUBLECLICK the speaker in lower right hand side of your taskbar (at bottom of your screen). Adjust as needed b. Click Stop button. Click Play again (make sure you are on a page that has text and you have highlighted it). c. If all else fails...Exit out of Google Chrome. Open it again, try again and that should solve the problem. d. Try another ISpeech product ISpeech Convert Text to Speech. That symbol looks like a black speaker with sound pointing to the left. To try it out...Highlight text on page. Click the picture icon located at top right corner of screen. |
